The goal of Life Community Church’s Children’s Ministries is to come alongside parents and partner with them in bringing up their children. Our passion is to reach children and help them experience a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. We understand that the most critical years of a person’s character development are the early childhood years.This is why we take the opportunity in teaching your children about truth very seriously.

Our children’s department workers are men and women who have a heart for God first and foremost and a love for children next. Jesus says that the greatest commandment is to love Him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. The second is like it, to love our neighbor as ourselves. In Mark 10:13, Jesus reveals His heart for children when He says, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” (NASB).

Each of our children’s departments assists us in accomplishing the five purposes of our church: evangelism, discipleship, ministry, worship and fellowship. Each one a critical design for producing young followers of Christ. Each purpose, a call for a growing and healthy relationship with Jesus. “This is what the name of our Children’s Ministry “SWISH” is derived from. It is an acronym that means “SERVE”, WORSHIP, “INSPIRE”, “SACRIFICE”, and “HONOR”.

It is our desire to assist children in developing a passion for Jesus Christ that will continue to grow throughout their entire lives. I hope that if you ever have questions or comments about these departments, never hesitate to contact me.

CHILDREN'S DIRECTOR

CHILDREN

Our Sunday School ministry provides a small group setting on Sunday mornings at 10:30am. During the Sunday School hour we dig into the things that we learned during Childrens Church. During this time we focus on the Bible Story Lesson and how the children can apply what they have learned to their own everyday lives. The Sunday school runs from toddler age to 5th grade with each class studying the same Bible passage in an age appropriate manner. We also believe that this format will allow for meaningful discussions at home with other family members.

NURSERY / PRESCHOOL DEPARTMENT

We at LIFE Community believe that children are a gift from God and we take seriously the opportunity and privilege to be a part of your child’s development and spiritual growth. Our nursery is divided into age appropriate rooms that range from birth to age four. Each room is staffed with church volunteers who serve either in the 9:00 AM Sunday School Session each week or in the 10:30 AM Worship Service Session on a rotating basis. Everyone who is a member of LIFE Community Church is encouraged to minister to our families and children by serving in the nursery. The purpose of the nursery department is to provide a safe, loving, fun and comfortable environment for children. To accomplish this we ask that workers walk, hold, play, and share the love of our Lord with each child.

THE PLUNGE (CHILDREN’S CHURCH)

Children's Church is our large group time at 9:00am on Sunday mornings. The Children's Church is broken down into two areas. The Pre-K and Kindergarten use different stations and activities to allow the children to experience worship and bible teaching in an age appropriate environment. Our 1st through 5th grade Children's Church is called "The Plunge". It is 90 minutes of FUN, high energy worship and teaching that helps the children learn to apply God's teaching to their own lives. Both sessions incorporates all five purposes of our church (evangelism, worship, discipleship, fellowship, and ministry) during this time for the social interaction and corporate worship time of our children.

Our AWANA program is for children from 3 years old through 5th grade. We meet on Wednesday nights from 6:30pm to 8:00pm from August through May. AWANA strives to teach the children that that God is real, that He loves them, He has expressed that love through His Son, Jesus Christ, God can help them in their daily lives, and how to obey God in a complex world. Each AWANA session consists of HANDBOOK TIME which allows the kids to work with a trained leader to finish assignments and recite memorized Bible verses. GAME TIME allows kids to get involved no matter what their athletic ability while they learn teamwork and sportsmanship. And last but not least, the LARGE GROUP TIME consists of award presentations and the most important part of AWANA - a practical Bible message.

CUBBIES - co-ed groups, child must be age 3 by August 3st of the current year, completely potty trained, curriculm lasts for 2 years, parental participation is required

SPARKS - co-ed groups, for kindergarten through 2nd graders, curriculm lasts for 3 years, parental participation is strongly suggested

T & T: TRUTH & TRAINING - gender and grade specific groups, 3rd thru 5th graders, curriculm lasts up to 4 years, parental participation is encouraged, especially for special events

SUMMER FUN PROGRAM

From May until August, we have our "Summer Fun Program" for our children. In the past this has consisted of fun,exciting activities that range from Creative Classes, to a Summer Long Game called "Life's Amazing Race". We try to focus on the "Fun" aspect of the summer months since most kids minds are on anything but learning. However we sneak in Life Lessons each week that help the kids learn about how other children in other parts of the world live.

VBS (Vacation Bible School)

Our VBS is a one week event held every summer in June for children ages 3 to 5th grade. VBS is designed specifically with the purpose of reaching our children with the love and compassion of Jesus Christ in a fun and safe environment.

VOLUNTEERS

We believe that God has called every believer to some sort of ministry. If children are a desire of your heart and you want to learn more about being involved with our young people, please contact myself or one of our directors for each department with any questions you might have.

CHILDREN’S SUMMER CAMP

Our summer camp is held off site and usually is held after VBS in July. Some of the activities at summer camp include swimming, hiking, wall climbing and many other events. Each night is finished up with special speakers and music. This is one of our outings that leave children talking about all year long.

CHILDREN'S CHOIR

We at Life Community desire to see Jesus lifted up in worship from an early age. One way we do this is through our Children’s Choir runs through the normal school year. Other activities are available during the summer on Sunday nights.

Good News Club is an afterschool Bible club that meets for one hour and 15 mins. each week at Florence Elementary School. This club uses volunteers from Life Community Church and is sponsored by Child Evangelism Fellowship. We teach Bible lessons, memory verses, sing songs, play games and eat a snack. Each volunteer receives about 9 hours of training by CEF.

The Gospel message is clearly presented each week. There are places for volunteers to serve as adminstrative assistants, Bible teachers, helpers, and teacher assistants.
